October in Sardinia: why summer doesn’t end on september 22nd

Perfect temperatures, semi deserted beaches, beautiful excursions to do and festivals for all tastes! This is October in Sardinia!

Summer officially ends also in Sardinia on September 22nd but in Sardinia it is still warm during the day and pleasantly cool in the evening.

We have about 20/22 degrees by day and in the evening you just have to wear a thin jacket. Autumn evenings sitting on the sofa, wrapping up in a blanket watching TV can wait.

Beaches

Our beaches are the most popular attractions in October: nearly deserted, empty parking places, warm sand, but not hot, fresh water, clear air, amazing colours of the beaches and the sea. Perfect spots for hobby photographers and video filmers.

Olbia and Surrondings

We suggest you to visit the centre of Olbia in October. The city is not so crowded as in summer and it’s easier to visit the city. Olbia offers a lot of historical attractions (Basilica di San Simplico, Church San Paolo Apostolo, Villa Clorinda), we suggest you to visit the most interesting archaeological sites (Nuraghe of Cabu Abbas, Castello Pedres, archaeological Ship Museum, acquedotto romano), to do shopping at centre with its shops and piazze, to go for a walk in the park Fausto Noce and to finish your day drinking a good glass of wine at the Winery “Tenute Olbios”.

Escursions

If you like sports you can make an excursion to the Tavolara Island in themarine protected area of Tavolara or to Capo Figari in Golfo Aranci. To discover the “wild side” of Sardinia you can go hiking in “Su Gorroppu” and in Cala Goloritze in Orosei.

Events

There are many interesting events in October like “Cortes Apertas”. During this event local people who live in villages in the inner of Sardinia open their courtyards to show their art, culture and tradition. At the “Gran Galà del Vermentino” in Olbia you can taste the delicious Vermentino wine of the region Gallura!
