Porto Taverna, the beach on the Island of Tavolara in Sardinia

Is there another beach on Tavolara island? For us yes ! !

We talk about the beach of Porto Taverna which is famous for the breathtaking view over the island of Tavolara. This beach with its marvellous panorama belongs to the most beautiful beaches at the east coast of Sardinia.

The beach of Porto Taverna is located in the holiday resort Porto San Paolo. It is 10 minutes far from San Teodoro and 15 minutes far from Olbia. The 1 km long beach consists of fine, white sand, the water is crystal clear. Porto Taverna is an ideal beach for anyone, especially for families with children because the water is shallow and kids can play safely. It is a perfect spot for windsurfers on windy days, on windless days diving and enthusiasts can explore the marine park of Tavolara and Molara.

There are different beach services on the beach: a spacious parking place, beach facilities for disabled persons, a campsite, bars and restaurants like our beach bar “Tavernetta Beach” and our fish restaurant “La Tavernetta”, sunbed- and umbrella hire, pedal boat and boat hire and a windsurf school.

One part of the beach is separated by a pond, it looks like a kind of “atoll” which makes the beach of Porto Taverna unique. Standing on the small landing stage over the pond you can admire beautiful pink flamingos which cross this area each summer.

Porto Taverna is not only known for its beach but also for its perfect location and its holiday resort. There is a wide range of accommodation possibilities which are near nice beaches and seaside resorts like Porto San Paolo, San Teodoro and Olbia.

How to reach Porto Taverna

From Olbia (the “access” to the coast with the port and the airport) you can reach Porto Taverna within 15 minutes. Take the coastal road ss125 and drive through Murta Maria and Porto San Paolo in direction San Teodoro. When you reach Porto San Paolo you are 2 km far from Porto Taverna.

You can also take the highway 131 in direction Nuoro, exit Vaccileddi and go ahead until you reach the small village behind Porto Taverna.
