Vermentino – The wine of the region Gallura

Get to know Sardinian wines and taste them in the best wineries of North Sardinia.

Sardinia is like the rest of Italy famous for its wines: red wine, white wine, rosé wine and liqueur wine with different characteristics from North to South Sardinia.

The wines come from autochtonous grapes of different areas. The wines are partly fragrant, sweet, light or sophisticated.

We start with the famous Cannonau, the favourite wine of the writer Gabriele D’Annunzio which is cultivated in the centre of Sardinia, afterwards we’ll present you the intense ruby red Carignano del Sulcis wine. Malvasia of Bosa and Vernaccia of Oristano are produced at the west coast and they’re very special. The famous Vermentino comes from the region Gallura, in the North East of Sardinia.

Vermentino wine

The Vermentino wineyards are located in Gallura, in North East Sardinia, famous for Costa Smeralda. Vermentino wine is also produced in the area of Sassari. The production has grown significantly in the last 20 years and the wine estates work with modern technologies. Vermentino received the highest classification for Italian wines (DOCG).

The wine has a straw yellow colour, the bouquet is fruity with mineral notes.

The Wine estates Tenute Olbios in Sardinia and Vigne Surrau in Arzachena are not far away from our Residence.
