SIGHTSEEING IN NORTH SARDINIA PART 1

Summer is coming and you are thinking about where to spend your holidays? You’re dreaming of warm places, white sand beaches with shallow crystal clear water, traditional food with fresh fish, friendly local people, ancient culture and a lot of things to do and to see? Come to North Sardinia!

In our blog we are talking about the most interesting spots in the area between San Teodoro and Porto San Paolo.

The Beaches

We start in San Teodoro with the La Cinta beach with its azure blue, shallow water and its dunes stretching out for 3 kilometers without any rocks. A perfect beach for everybody and especially for young people having fun practicing water sports like windsurfing, SUP, sailing, pedal boating and having a nice aperitif in one of the beach bars.

Proceeding towards Porto San Paolo along the coast in direction Lu Nibareddu, turning right we reach the twin beaches Cala Brandinchi and Lu Impostu. Cala Brandinchi is nicknamed “Tahiti” because of its white sand, its clear shallow turquoise, almost transparent sea. There is also a pine forest near the beach. The second beach named Lu Impostu is opposite Cala Brandinchi. It is a beach with golden white sand, shallow crystal blue water and surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation.

Nearby you find the beach of Capo Coda Cavallo which is situated in the marine protected area of Tavolara. The beach has white, fine sand and shallow water and is protected from the wind, even if the wind blows strong.

Going ahead towards Porto San Paolo near Lu Nibareddu you reach Porto Taverna and Cala Girgolu. Porto Taverna is a beach with fine, white sand, crystal clear and shallow water like the La Cinta beach and has a breathtaking view over the island of Tavolara. Cala Girgolu consists of lovely small coves.

Tavolara Island

In summer a small ferry leaves the harbour of Porto San Paolo each day and takes you to the island of Tavolara. You can also make a half day boat trip to the famous “piscine of Molara”.

Tavolara takes part of the marine protected area Tavolara-Punta Coda Cavallo AMP), it stretches out for 40 km from Olbia to San Teodoro. The flora and fauna is unique there, that’s why the area is protected by law. The protected area starts in Capo Ceraso, followed by beaches, coves and hills heading to Cala Finocchi in the south of San Teodoro. The protected area includes the islands Drago, Molara, Molarotto, Piana, dei Cavalli and is considered one of the most beautiful places in Sardinia.

There are 2 restaurants on the island of Tavolara and you can book a trekking tour to the summit. Centers like the Blu Infinito Diving center organize beautiful diving tours Blu Infinito Diving Center.

The famous Italian Film Festival takes place in August in a breathtaking scenery.
