The north east coast of Sardinia is richly populated with small islands, some of them surrounded by natural environment and with lots of history. The Tavolara archipelago situated opposite Porto Taverna a (Natural Marine Park) is a protected area and offer to visitors an uncontaminated marine environment and is rich in natural wonders. During the summer period there will be open air cinema shows. You can visit the Tavolara archipelago by organised boat trips.
A very short distance away is the Figarolo island (Golfo Aranci) renowned for its beautiful deep sea scapes which makes an irresistible attraction for scubadivers!
A little bit towards the north we will find the islands of Soffi, Mortorio e Mortoriotto which are jewels and near the very - popular - with - the - VIPs - Costa Smeralda.
Finally the archipelago of La Maddalena...this too is a protected area and natural park, which has a number of islands of different sizes. The beautiful "Spiaggia Rosa" (pink beach) and Spargi are found there, together with the fascinating Caprera history, with the Giuseppe Garibaldi museum and his REAL house perfectly preserved with lots of historical items. This is open to the public.
